Andreas Wollenberg
Andreas Wollenberg is a Professor of Dermatology and Allergy, working at the University Hospital Augsburg, Germany. In addition, he is conducting research and is teaching at the Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. Moreover, he is affiliated with the Comprehensive Center for Inflammatory Medicine at the University Hospital Lübeck, Germany. Prof. Wollenberg completed his internship and residency at Ludwig-Maximilian University in Munich and subsequently trained at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California, USA.
Prof. Andreas Wollenberg has conducted research in the field of atopic dermatitis, experimental dermatology, dendritic cell research, eczema herpeticum, perioral dermatitis and EGFR-inhibitor-induced skin toxicity. His research has generated more than 390 peer-reviewed publications and a Hirsch Index of 78. He has described and characterized the inflammatory dendritic epidermal cells, as well as the cutaneous plasmacytoid dendritic cells, and has coined the concept of proactive therapy.
Currently, he is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venerology, and a reviewer for many biomedical journals. Prof. Wollenberg has served for 10 years as head of the European Task Force on Atopic Dermatitis (ETFAD) is the lead author of the ETFAD Position Paper on AD management. Moreover, he is the lead author of the current EuroGuiDerm Guidelines for Atopic Dermatitis. Prof. Wollenberg is executive board member and Secretary of the International Society of Atopic Dermatitis (ISAD). Moreover, he received a Dr. honoris causae from the Medical University Iuliu Hatieganu in Cluj-Napoca.
